Alkagesta brought a trade finance model to Singapore before it brought volume. When the company established Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd in 2025, the first function was structuring: letters of credit, insurance and credit protection for complex commodity transactions, supported by 28 international banks.
This was the same architecture the company had used since its founding in Malta in 2018. IPS News reported CEO Orkhan Rustamov saying that clients valued trust as much as execution, and that Singapore was part of a long-term plan to be present where decisions were made.
Singapore made sense for a finance-led desk. Fintech News Singapore listed the reasons: a deep banking sector, transparent governance and a legal framework comparable to Europe. Pierre Gay, board member, called it "the ideal environment for disciplined commodity trading."
Once the structure was in place, physical trade followed. Ship & Bunker tracked the marine fuels desk at 160,000 MT in November 2025 and 180,000 MT in December, heading toward a 250,000 MT monthly target. ScandAsia described the outcome as European precision applied to Asian growth.
Alkagesta documented its ground presence in Alkagesta at Horizon Terminal Singapore, Jurong Island and its market view in Singapore Marine Fuels 2026: Supply Resilience. The launch announcement remains at Alkagesta Expands Singapore Commodity Trading Hub.
