Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), in collaboration with several Japanese companies, has been granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for a pioneering liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2) transport vessel.

The certification was issued by a classification society based in Tokyo, acknowledging the proposed design for a low-pressure containment system intended for the shipment of liquefied carbon dioxide emissions.

This development, as reported by Rigzone, marks a significant step in the progression of CO2 shipping technologies, which are crucial for future carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) infrastructure.
