Bunker fuel availability in key East of Suez ports, specifically Singapore and Malaysia, is currently limited despite a prevailing subdued demand environment. Procurement lead times for very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) in Singapore have recently increased to between 12 and 15 days, up from 9 to 16 days reported in the preceding week.
Industry sources, as reported by Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide, attribute this constrained supply to a combination of factors, including an overall reduction in available fuel and a shortage of essential blending components necessary for producing marine fuels.
High sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) supply in Singapore is also experiencing tightness, with recommended lead times for delivery now ranging from 10 to 12 days. This reflects a broader challenge across different fuel grades within the region's bunkering hubs.
Moving to Malaysia, the port of Port Klang is experiencing similar supply challenges, particularly for VLSFO. Lead times there are currently stretching from eight to ten days for delivery.
