Both the United Kingdom and Japan are intensifying their scrutiny of maritime assets connected to Russia's premier shipping entity, Sovcomflot. London's focus includes new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, while Tokyo is specifically targeting oil tankers.
The UK's sanctions concerning Russian LNG shipping are notable for being applied to vessels at an earlier stage of their operational life. An example cited by Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide is the inclusion of the vessel PYOTR STOLYPIN (IMO 9904675) in the sanctions package effective from 1st October, even before any cargo movements were registered by Kpler.
The sanctions also listed the vessel KONSTANTIN POSIET.
