Freight rates across the product tanker sector have shown marked upward momentum, mirroring the wider pressures currently lifting crude oil transportation, according to an industry update reported by Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.

In its weekly market analysis, shipbroker Gibson noted that the global clean petroleum product (CPP) freight market remains well supported, with the identical factors bolstering crude tonnage now clearly evident in clean trading patterns.

The brokerage pointed out that persistent commercial and logistical risks affecting crude flows are also influencing product tanker sentiment, underpinning chartering activity and vessel returns across key routes.
