Global shipping expenses have seen a significant increase, driven by recent instabilities in the Middle East. These disruptions have impacted critical maritime passages far beyond the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a report from OilPrice.com, the crisis has intensified activity at other key chokepoints, specifically the Panama and Suez Canals. Both canals have experienced a notable rise in the volume of energy commodity cargoes over the past six months.

This heightened traffic has resulted in shipping costs reaching unprecedented levels. Some vessel operators are reportedly prepared to pay substantial sums, ranging from $4 million to $5 million, to secure a single transit slot through the Panama Canal via an auction system for a specific date.
