Pakistan's energy supply is set to improve with the imminent arrival of Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers. The first shipment is anticipated as early as Thursday, according to ship-tracking data cited by Bloomberg.
This development follows a challenging period for Pakistan, which has faced energy shortages. The difficulties arose after Qatar declared force majeure on its LNG exports, a consequence of reported Iranian strikes that caused damage to its Ras Laffan LNG facility.
During this disruption, Pakistan resorted to procuring LNG from the spot market, often incurring substantial premiums for intermittent deliveries. Qatar typically stands as the primary supplier of LNG to Pakistan.
The restoration of these contracted shipments is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on Pakistan's energy infrastructure and reduce its reliance on volatile spot market purchases, as reported by OilPrice.com.
